You have questions, I have answers.
How much room do your kinetic sculptures take up?
The photograph of each sculpture shows the height, width and depth of that piece. These are the largest dimensions through which a sculpture moves. For example, my “Three Moons Rising” kinetic sculpture is 18 feet high, 7 feet wide and 7 feet in depth and moves within those dimensions.
My space is smaller than the dimensions of a kinetic sculpture design I like? Can you make it in a smaller size?
Yes. Because each sculpture is custom made, the sizes can be adjusted to suit your specific requirements.
Are your kinetic sculptures made in a factory?
Each sculpture is designed by me and made to order by me in my workshop here in Pennsylvania. Every piece is also handcrafted by me. The only exception are the stainless steel bearings – those are made outside my shop.
How long will it take you to make me one?
Each kinetic sculpture is made to order. Depending on how busy I am, I generally ask for two months to have a sculpture ready for delivery. Faster shipment may be possible, but this is something we should discuss in advance.
What are your kinetic sculptures made of?
The outdoor kinetic sculptures are made of aluminum and stainless steel. The structure of the sculptures is made from a marine grade of aluminum for lightness and durability, the bearing components are made from stainless steel for durability and strength. My indoor kinetic sculptures may also contain gemstones, precious metals, and fine woods.
Do you ship your kinetic sculptures?
Yes. The sculptures disassemble into pieces and are light in weight, they can be shipped anywhere in the world.
How do I order one?
The best way to purchase a sculpture is to contact me directly at 610-756-4088. It gets pretty noisy in my workshop so I don’t always hear the phone but, if you leave a message, I will contact you promptly. You may also reach me via email [email protected], if you prefer.
Can I set up your kinetic sculptures on my own or do I need to hire a professional?
If you’re handy around the house, you can set one up easily on your own or with the help of a friend in about an hour. I can assemble them in about 10 minutes, but I’ve had practice! The kinetic sculptures arrive at your location separated into individual, lightweight components. The heaviest part is the temporary base, which weighs about 60 pounds. You may need a pal to help you move the base and you will need a ladder to assemble the top part of the sculpture.
Can the sculpture blow down in the wind?
When the sculptures are permanently set, they can withstand winds of more than 100 mph. The temporary bases, which are provided with each kinetic sculpture, are meant for short-term use. They do come with stakes to help keep them secure until a permanent base is in place.
How do I keep my kinetic sculpture looking nice?
The sculptures will not rust so maintenance is not necessary. If you want to keep that shiny, new look, you can clean and wax them. I use Butcher's Wax maybe once a year or once every other year.
What if the kinetic sculpture you create for me breaks?
Each piece is made with great attention to detail and quality of workmanship. If a reasonably cared-for structure fails, I will repair it at no cost to you except shipping charges.
